Your Child At Nursery

We ask parents/carers to supply their children with nappies, wipes and cream if required. If your baby is on formula milk then we ask that you provide the appropriate measured powder along with a bottle. The nursery will supply cows milk when you are ready to make the transition.

❖ Children MUST wear indoor shoes eg: plimsoles, slippers etc.

Please supply your child with a sun hat and sun cream in the summer months. We do sell hats, please just ask in the office. All children wear aprons for creative arts and the younger children are provided with bibs at meal times. We do sell nursery tee shirts and sweat shirts to save their every day clothes if you prefer. We ask that children DO NOT bring their own toys or food to nursery as they may get lost or broken and it can cause arguments between the children. Children are welcome to bring a comforter if needed.

❖ Settling Your Child Into Nursery

If your child is not used to being away from you he/she can be expected to need time to settle into nursery. All children react differently on being left in a new environment. Sometimes children will appear to settle easily but after a few weeks may become tearful and reluctant for his/her parents to leave. Others may show distress at first but will steadily gain confidence. Of course some children will make adjustment into nursery with very few problems. We can also arrange visits for you and your child, starting with leaving them for 10 minutes and building up. Please call the office and we will do what suits you and your child the best. Do be positive about your child's time at nursery and the good things they do there. Do talk to staff, they are there to work with you and your child. Do feel free to phone anytime, you will probably find your child has settled within minutes of you leaving. Please remember your child will settle and will benefit from interacting with other children and adults. This is good preparation for school and will help your child feel secure and to become confident.

❖ Children's Illness

Children who are ill/infectious must NOT be brought to nursery - please refer to nursery policies and procedures. If your child has sickness and diarrhoea we ask that you keep them off for 48 hours after recovery to prevent it spreading to other children and staff. Thank you. We ask that you call us to let us know if your child will be absent from nursery.

❖ Payments and Notice of Leaving

Once you have accepted a place with us here at Bees Knees and you have signed the terms and agreements we require two week notice of your child leaving or changing sessions. The two weeks notice for leaving will be covered by your two weeks deposit. We ask parents/carers to pay at the beginning of each week or month. There are several ways to pay, these include cash, credit/debit card, vouchers or you can make a payment on line, please ask in the office for a hard copy. Fees are still payable even if your child is absent from nursery, but you do not pay when the nursery is closed i.e. Christmas and bank holidays.

❖ Daily Routine

Each room have their own daily routine which is displayed within our nursery and on our app for parents/carers to read at all times so that you can see what your child will be getting up to.

Project work for the year is based around the EYFS is displayed in the nursery.

A weekly plan is also displayed for you to read, this informs the parents/carers what your child will be doing each day and how we use planning to encourage every individual child's learning, growth and development.

❖ Nursery Policies and Procedures

The Bees Knees Day Nursery and Pre-School has many written policies and procedures which are displayed in the main foyer, they include Equal Opportunities, Safeguarding Children, Managing Behaviour, Complaints Procedure and many more. Please feel free to look.

❖ Security

The nursery has a high level of security including interior security doors, CCTV and a secure car park with a barrier system. If somebody different is collecting your child it is essential that you inform the office, you will need to give us a password that the collected knows too. We will not let a child go home with anybody if we have not been informed.
